Community meeting to debate the riots

The Indian Workers Association of Great Britain’s Leicestershire branch, wants to look at ways to stop similar events happening again. It takes place at the Guru Dashmesh Gurdwara in Gipsy Lane, Leicester at 6pm. Leicester Right To Work Campaign mobilised for a demonstration with just 24 hours notice after hearing Clegg was visiting the city. It is due to take place at Kohinoor Radio Station, in St Saviours Road, from 4pm to 7pm. The free event has been organised by the Foundation Housing Association’s Safe project, which provides support to victims of domestic violence, and the Indian Workers’ Association. Leicester stands united against EDL threat on Saturday

Asian, black and white people are uniting against the racist English Defence League (EDL) in Leicester this Saturday. This is still vital, though the EDL have been banned from “marching”. Unite Against Fascism (UAF) has called a protest in the city centre against the EDL’s plans to march. More than 150 people packed into a public meeting last Sunday in the heart of Leicester’s Sikh community to discuss the response to the EDL protest. May blocks Leicester marches

Monday, 4 October 2010 12:00 AM  Police ready to block Leicester march By politics.co.uk staff Home secretary Theresa May has banned marches in Leicester on the day that the English Defence League had planned to protest. The right-wing group had planned to march around the city on October 9th and was facing a counter-protest by Unite Against Fascism. That has now been cast into doubt after Ms May authorised an order imposing a blanket ban on marches in the city this Saturday.
