Community meeting to debate the riots

Civil unrest and vandalism which erupted in cities across England, including Leicester, will be discussed at a public meeting tomorrow.

The Indian Workers Association of Great Britain’s Leicestershire branch, wants to look at ways to stop similar events happening again.

It takes place at the Guru Dashmesh Gurdwara in Gipsy Lane, Leicester at 6pm.

Speakers include Keith Vaz, MP for Leicester East; Sital Singh Gill, general secretary of the Indian Workers Association, and Kashmir Singh, of the Federation of Sikh Organisations. City councillors and police have also been invited.

Mr Gill said: “We appeal to representatives of every community, trade unions and all peace-loving people to attend this important meeting.”
